September 2017—Lift and Move USA is proving to be an outstandingly successful tool in getting teens, young adults, and veterans interested in the many career options available in the crane and rigging industry. In just two years, Lift and Move has held six events for over 2,000 attendees, with two more events scheduled before the end of this year:
- Imperial Crane, Chicago, IL, June 2015
- TNT Crane & Rigging, Houston, TX, February 2016
- Buckner Companies, Graham, NC, May 2016
- Bragg Crane, Long Beach, CA, November 2016
- All Crane Rental, Tampa, FL, February 2017
- Lifting Gear Hire, Bridgeview, IL, May 2017
- Buchanan Hauling, Indianapolis, IN, September 2017
- Deep South Crane & Rigging, Baton Rouge, LA, November 2017
Lift and Move provides attendees of area high schools, vocational and technical schools, and military personnel transitioning into the civilian world, as well as recent veterans, with opportunities to learn about the multiple careers available. In small interactive group settings, they get to see what a day looks like in those careers, what the earning potential is, and what travel opportunities there may be. Certification is a key benefit for those individuals entering or wanting to advance in the careers. Attendees also can try their hand at a variety of simulators including state-of-the-art crane operator simulators.
Lift and Move attendees also have the opportunity to learn about grant and scholarship funds available through the SC&R Foundation including chances to be awarded a CCO Certification scholarship. They will also soon have the option of joining a job registry where companies seeking to hire hard working individuals looking to enter the industry will post employment opportunities and search eligible candidates.
NCCCO is a founding organizer of Lift and Move USA, which is a joint venture with KHL and the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA).
The next two events will be held on September 14 at Buchanan Hauling in Indianapolis, IN, and on November 15 at Deep South Crane & Rigging in Baton Rouge, LA. For more information on both programs, or to register students at no charge, go to www.liftandmoveusa.com
