Crane Experts Educate at CONEXPO

June 2017—By all accounts the Crane and Rigging education track at the recent CONEXPO exhibition and conference was a rousing success. More than 450 participants attended 11 seminars over the course of four days to hear from crane industry experts about a host of topics essential to safe crane operation.

NCCCO President Thom Sicklesteel presented “Responsibilities of Onsite Personnel for Cranes” to a packed house at CONEXPO 2017.

Best attended was a panel discussion entitled “What Does Certification Have to do with Qualification?” which featured panelists representing insurance (NBIS), crane owners (Barnhart), accreditation organizations (ANSI) and certification bodies (NCCCO). Top ratings went to Mike Parnell’s presentation on “Planning Load Moves,” a discourse about the new ANSI standard, P30.1; and Hank Dutton for “Lift Director Qualification & Requirements.” Also highly regarded were seminars on superlifts, telematics, crane assembly and disassembly, and crane inspection.

Most of the presentations were videotaped and can be obtained from AEM here.
