OSHA Seeks Support from Industry for Crane Rule Extension

Thursday, May 23, 2013, Washington, DC - OSHA today requested support from the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH) for the agency’s proposal to extend the implementation deadline for operator certification to November 2017. The additional three years will provide OSHA time to partially re-open the crane rule to address industry concerns over the “certifying by capacity” requirement and whether certification is equivalent to qualification. ACCSH plans to vote on this measure tomorrow, Friday, May 24, 2013.
