Change to Scoring of the Overhead Crane Exam

July 2007 - A new performance measurement has been added to the Overhead Practical Exam effective August 1, 2007.  The candidate will be assessed a performance deduction if (s)he stops hoisting during the “hoist down sequence” during Task 1-True Vertical Lift.

Once the Practical Examiner has indicated that the candidate should begin lowering the load, the candidate is not permitted to stop the crane until the load is on the ground and the Examiner has given the hand signal to stop.
