March 2012 - The Rigging Institute, LLC conducted a three-day CCO Certified Rigger Level II preparation course at its APEX/Campbell Chain plant in York, PA, last November.

The course included one day of classroom training, one day of hands-on training, and one day of examinations. The class consisted of eight students, all of whom already held CCO Rigger Level I certification. Six of the students were I&I Slingmax product advisors, with other participants from the Rigging Institute and insurance broker The Graham Co., Philadelphia, PA. Harley Gist, Rigging Institute’s lead instructor, conducted the class.

Eight industry professionals participated in the Rigging Institute's three-day Certified Rigger Level II prep course at its APEX/Cambell Chain plant in York, PA, last November.

“To meet our customer’s ever-increasing technical demands, our Product Advisors must rise to the next level of rigging expertise,” said Scott St. Germain, president of I&I Sling Inc. “NCCCO Rigger Level II certification gives our sales professionals the knowledge and confidence to provide appropriate technical advice on the proper use of our slings and hardware.” St. Germain noted that an increasing number of the firm’s customers now required rigger certification just to set foot on their jobsites. “This is well worth our time and expense to better serve our customers,” he said.

The plant—one of seven permanent Rigging Institute learning centers across the U.S.—gives students a rare opportunity to witness the chain manufacturing process while learning valuable rigging skills.
