Reports have been published in the trade and business media recently regarding the accreditation status of certain crane operator certification programs. Specifically, one press release issued by a testing company claims it has received "preliminary accreditation" from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for its certification programs.

Please be advised that ANSI does not award “preliminary accreditation” and that consequently the testing company is not in any manner accredited by ANSI. ANSI does issue a “public preliminary” status to certification bodies that may subsequently make a full application for accreditation, but no review of any exam materials, testing procedures, or management systems has been conducted.

A formal complaint regarding the false and misleading claims has been filed with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and the matter is currently under legal review.

To avoid confusion, please refer to this complete list of certification programs that have received accreditation by ANSI.
