Pennsylvania Receives First License Applications

October 2010 - The Pennsylvania State Board of Crane Operators has received its first applications from operators seeking a state crane operators license.  All 204 applications received by the meeting of the Board on October 27, 2010 in Harrisburg, PA were from operators who had been CCO-certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO). Application forms for crane operator licensure for the State of Pennsylvania are available from the State Board of Crane Operators via the Board’s website*.

Although the Board does not now anticipate that the regulations will be promulgated before mid-December, applications received prior to that date will undergo a preliminary review, and applicants will be notified of any discrepancies.

The Board office will verify certification with certifying organizations approved by the Board until June 30, 2011, after which time applicants will need to notify their certifying organization to submit proof of certification directly to the board office.

CCO Certification by NCCCO remains the certification of record for the state.  Other certification boards requesting permission to issue certifications for state licensure must apply to the Board and prove equivalency.  CCO practical exams are required for operators who seek licensure without certification.
