Is Computer Based Testing (CBT) available for all CCO certification exams?
Not at this time. CBT exams are currently available only for the mobile crane program. You may sign up for the initial Core and Specialty Exams, as well as the Mobile Crane Recertification exams. (top of page)
Is CBT available nationwide?
Yes. Find the closest CBT Testing location by choosing National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators as a spponsor and entering your zip code. (top of page)
Where can I test?
CCO written exams are administered via computer at PSI ’s 250+ test centers located throughout the nation. (top of page)
How do I apply to test via CBT?
Application for the CBT exams is via an online application form. The Computer Based Testing application is online. You will submit a completed candidate application along with the required fees for the CCO Written Mobile examination(s) you wish to take. After you have submitted your application, you will receive an email from International Assessment Institute (IAI) confirming your eligibility to test. How do I make an appointment at a Test Center?
The email you receive from IAI will include a PSI phone number that you will need to call to make an appointment to test at a PSI test center in your area. To find a center, visit the PSI website and enter National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators for the Examination and your zip code. (top of page)
What do I need to take to the test facility?
You will need your photo ID and the confirmation number that IAI sent you via email. You will not be allowed to take materials such as cell phones, calculators, hats, coats, bags, or any other items that might compromise the integrity of the test, into the testing facility. (top of page)

Does Computer Based Testing cost the same as Paper/Pencil? No, there is an additional fee to take the CBT. The fees are listed on the IAI website.

How do I pay for my tests?
You will pay by credit card at the time that you fill out the online application. (top of page)
Are the CBT exams the same as Paper/Pencil exams?
Yes, the content of the examinations is the same. They have the same number of questions as the paper versions, and you will have the same amount of time to complete them. Printed copies of the load charts for Specialty Exams will be provided for your use. (top of page)
How quickly will I receive scores?
You will receive your official test results at the test site following the completion of the exam(s). (top of page)
Are other NCCCO program certification examinations available through CBT?
At this time only the Mobile certification and recertification eams are available via CBT. . (top of page)
May I use a calculator during the test?
No, just as with the paper and pencil exams, calculators cannot be used for CBT. (top of page)
