NCCCO's Lift Safety Zone Featured at ICUEE

Dedicated to promoting safer working practices for those who work with and around cranes and related equipment, NCCCO’s Lift Safety Zone (LSZ) took center stage at the International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition (ICUEE), held October 4-6 in Louisville, KY.

Fresh from its debut at CONEXPO in Las Vegas in March, the LSZ occupied 10,000 square feet outside near ICUEE’s main entrance in Area N.Thanks to equipment generously donated by Terex Utilities, Cargotec USA Inc.’s Hiab, and Palfinger, the main focus of the LSZ was demonstrations of NCCCO’s yet-to-be-released digger derrick operator practical exam as well as its existing articulating crane operator certification and rigger certification programs.

The ICUEE LSZ also showcased all of NCCCO’s certification programs—for mobile, tower, overhead, and articulating crane operators, signalpersons, and riggers—and offered written and recertification exam administrations for those seeking to become CCO certified or renew their certifications. Previews of key elements of the CCO Crane Inspector certification program to be launched in November were also available.

Presented by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM)—and also known as “The Demo Expo”—the biennial ICUEE is the premier international demonstration exposition and education resource for the construction and utility industries. As such, ICUEE typically attracts persons involved in the electric, phone/cable, sewer/water, gas, general construction, landscaping, and public works segments.

This year’s show featured around 800 exhibitors and 16,600 registered attendees. Registrants came from all 50 states, all 10 Canadian provinces, and more than 40 other countries worldwide. “We’re very pleased and gratified by industry support of the show with these strong numbers during a still-recovering economy. Despite some uncertain market conditions, our industry is looking ahead to be ready for future business,” stated Melissa Magestro, the show’s director.
